A firm favourite with the British, Soll is a lively and popular resort which lies at the foot of the famous Hohe Salve mountain and flanked by the mighty Wilden Kaiser mountain range. It is an ideal choice for groups of mixed ability skiers and is the main resort on the fantastic Ski Welt circuit, Austria's biggest ski area, which boasts over 200kms of runs. Soll is one of nine villages and is by far the most popular. The resort features an attractive village centre with traditional Tyrolean buildings clustered around a beautiful, onion-domed church.
Beginners slopes are mainly found between the main road and the base area. More experienced skiers will want to take the first stage of the gondola to Hochsoll for an array of sunny slopes, before heading up the second stage to Hohe Save at 1,830m. Here there are steep slopes in all directions, for both intermediates and experts and, of course, access to the wider Ski Welt area.
Off the slopes there is curling and iceskating plus an indoor pool. Night skiing is available on the 3km run down to the village and the gondola is open for this purpose from Weds to Sat. The apres ski is vibrant, good-humoured and varied. .
