WE say

An idyllic village at the heart of the Monterosa ski area offering high altitude skiing

The Monterosa ski area is one of the largest ski areas in Italy, covering a large network of pistes and lifts linking three separate valleys.  The skiing ranges from the Valsesia valley and Alagna in the East to Champoluc in the Ayas Valley in the west, with the Gressoney valley in the ideal position, right between the two.

The area is starting to become a favourite with a number of enthusiastic (and well informed) skiers, who appreciate the stunning scenery, the lovely long runs, great mountain restaurants and accessible off-piste opportunities.  At a height of 1,637m, Gressoney-La-Trinité is a quiet little village and full of character - its cobbled streets, traditional church and traditionally styled wooden buildings, all come together to epitomise the charm of Italian skiing.

Great for families, Gressoney has something for everyone from the fun of the 'Snow Garden' to gentle family friendly runs, through to long winding pistes along the valley and challenging off-piste.

Surrounded by some of highest peaks in Europe, the Gressoney area offers fantastic views from its many atmospheric mountain restaurants but more importantly high altitude snow-sure skiing and with approximately 180km of varied and usually uncrowded pistes, you will feel that you are discovering something unique and unspoilt every day!  No wonder then that the area is often referred to as one of Italy’s 'best kept secrets'.

The nightlife and apres scene are relatively quiet and informal affair with a number of local bars and cafés offering a warm welcome and a good choice of beers and local Italian wine.
