Part of the largest ski area in Austria, Ellmau is a pleasant family friendly resort with great nursery slopes and a good nightlife.
Ellmau is without a doubt one of the prettiest villages in our programme nestling between the Kitzbuheler Alps and the majestic Wilden Kaiser mountains. The relaxed village centre has a range of shops and cosy bars and cafes. In the local area, the Astberg skiing has some good runs and gives great views of the Kitbuhel Valley. This resort is an excellent choice, with the added attraction of traditional Tyrolean hospitality.
Ellmau offers the advantage of an extensive lift system linking 250km of runs across the Ski Welt circuit, one of Austria’s largest ski areas. The skiing is varied and appeals to all abilities but particularly intermediates who will love the wealth of blue and red runs. The ski schools have a good reputation and the gentle runs close to the village centres are ideal for learning on the first few days.
Ellmau is an ideal family resort with nursery slopes in the centre of the village, a range of gentle slopes, a short airport transfer time and excellent child-care facilities. There is still some good apres ski action, though, with a range of lively, fairly exclusive bars and a good variety of restaurants.
