For those that enjoy bustling resorts with a lively après-ski scene, this resort has to be one for the shortlist. A traditional Tyrolean village with a pedestrianised centre, it is a great location for a family break as well as offering groups of single skiers a great choice of bars and nightclubs in which to enjoy themselves after the sun goes down. Visitors who are more interested in the winter sports facilities than the chance to party all night long will appreciate the state-of-the-art lifts in the resort and the more than 235 kilometres of pistes in the Silvretta Arena.

A long season

One of the attractions of this resort, in addition to its great winter sports facilities and nightlife, is the fact that snow is pretty much guaranteed and that it is open from late November through until May every year. For people who fancy an early or late season break, an Ischgl ski holiday in the Austrian Alps is well worth considering. Advanced skiers will enjoy the opportunity to tackle Run 14, which is rumoured to be the longest black run in the country and less experienced visitors should enjoy the many blue runs that can be reached from the resort.

A fun filled holiday

Visitors to this Alpine gem can look forward to much more than just excellent skiing, with dozens of shops to keep them busy during the day and a host of nightlife venues, many of which open their doors to customers as early as four in the afternoon. At the last count, there were 76 bars and restaurants as well as 7 nightclubs, numbers that are only set to increase as more people discover the delights of this part of Austria. Whether you prefer staying in hotels or apartments there is plenty of excellent accommodation in Ischgl from which to choose.
